Up to 70% EEG support to adopt Energy-Saving Air-conditioners!

The government has enhanced the Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) as announced during Budget 2024. The Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) now aims to support businesses in their sustainability journey by co-funding investment in energy efficient (EE) equipment.

From 1 April 2024, enterprises from Manufacturing (including Food Manufacturing), Food Services, and Retail sectors will be able to tap on the EEG. Other sectors will be progressively onboarded and companies in all supported sectors can apply for the EEG through the Business Grants Portal by the end of 2024. More details will be released in due course.

Grant Support

Advanced Tier (only applicable to manufacturing sector) Up to $350,000 across Base and Advanced Tiers EE equipment need not be pre-approved, but must demonstrate energy savings above 350 tonnes lifetime carbon abatement Lower of: Support levels under the Base Tier; or Grant quantum computed based on EE equipment’s expected energy savings

* SMEs refer to companies with group annual sales turnover not exceeding $100 million, OR a group employment size not exceeding 200 employees

EEG Eligibility

Who can apply?

Applicants must meet all the following eligibility criteria at the point of application for the respective tiers of support:

  • Has a minimum of 30% local shareholding, with at least 1 local employee at the firm-level
  • Has a group annual sales Turnover of no more than S$500mil
  • The equipment purchased must be used in Singapore
Tier Eligibility
Base Tier Business entity registered and operating in Singapore in the Manufacturing (including Food Manufacturing), Food Services, and Retail sector as defined below:

  • Manufacturing companies that are classified under SSIC 10 to 32 (including Food Manufacturing)
  • Food Services companies must have valid Singapore Food Agency (SFA) licence and be classified under SSIC 56 or 68104
  • Retail companies that are classified under SSIC 47
  • Has a minimum of 30% local shareholding, with at least 1 local employee at the firm-level
  • Has a group annual sales turnover of no more than S$500mil
  • The equipment purchased must be used in Singapore

 
Advanced Tier

(only applicable to manufacturing sector)

 Business entity registered and operating in Singapore in the Manufacturing (including Food Manufacturing) sector as defined below:

  • Manufacturing companies that are classified under SSIC 10 to 32 (including Food Manufacturing)
  • Has a minimum of 30% local shareholding, with at least 1 local employee at the firm-level
  • Has a group annual sales turnover of no more than S$500mil
  • The equipment purchased must be used in Singapore

How to apply?

For companies in the Food Services and Retail sectors (Base Tier):

Step 1: Get a quotation from us (Email: [email protected] or Call: 6252 6616)
Step 2: Submit Grant Application on Business Grants Portal (BGP)
Step 3: Accept Letter of Offer on BGO
Step 4: Send us the notification of the approved grant
Step 5: Claim the grant on BGP after installation has been completed.

For companies in the Manufacturing sector (Advanced Tier):
Applicants can apply for the EEG (Base) and EEG (Advanced) via this email [email protected].

Note:
For EEG (Base Tier)

  • Companies will have up to 1 year from the time an application is approved to purchase and install the equipment and submit claims for reimbursement.
  • Once an application has been submitted, companies may purchase the equipment before the application outcome. However, companies will not be able to claim subsequently if the application is unsuccessful.
  • This pre-approved energy efficient equipment listing is not to be taken as a form of endorsement or recommendation by the participating government agencies.

Companies are reminded to carry out due diligence when engaging vendors, and not to collude with vendors to carry out submission of any grant applications or claims.

There has been an update on the Air-Conditioner Technical Requirements and now includes the following only:

  • Minimum 5-ticks for multi-split and single-split models
  • Minimum 3-ticks for 3-phase variable refrigerant flow (VRF) models

Note: From 1st April 2025, the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) will be raised to 5-tick for multi-split/ 4-tick for single split. The technical eligibility criteria will be reviewed in 4Q2024.
